Thousands of Travelers Stuck in U.S. as Endeavor, Republic, Alaska, Delta, Envoy and More Airlines Hit by 422 Cancellations and 3,546 Delays in New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, Washington D.C. and Others

Thousands of travelers are stranded across the U.S. as major airlines like Endeavor, Republic, Alaska, Delta, Envoy, and more face severe travel disruptions. With a staggering 422 cancellations and 3,546 delays, passengers in New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, Washington D.C., and other cities are left waiting. Weather issues, deicing procedures, and operational challenges have compounded the chaos, leaving many travelers frustrated and uncertain about their next steps. These widespread disruptions have caused ripple effects at some of the busiest airports in the country, including those in New York, Chicago, and Miami, leading to long queues and crowded terminals. While airlines are working to resolve the situation, passengers are advised to stay updated on flight statuses and reach out to airlines for rebooking.

Today, there have been 3,546 total delays within, into, or out of U.S. airports. These delays have been primarily attributed to low ceilings, thunderstorms, deicing procedures, and operational issues. Additionally, a total of 422 flights have been cancelled across U.S. airports, which has added to the already challenging travel conditions.

Several major U.S. airports have been significantly impacted by the disruptions. A large number of the cancellations and delays are due to deicing procedures, which are necessary to ensure the safety of flights during cold weather conditions. Airports experiencing deicing delays include Bradley International (BDL), Boston Logan International (BOS), Akron-Canton Airport (CAK), Charlotte Douglas International (CLT), Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), Philadelphia International (PHL), Pittsburgh International (PIT), T.F. Green Airport (PVD), and MBS International Airport (MBS). These deicing procedures have caused a ripple effect, delaying numerous flights at these airports.

In addition to deicing delays, several airports have faced ground delays and ground stops due to weather and operational issues. Newark Liberty International (EWR) has experienced ground delays caused by low ceilings, with an average delay of 49 minutes. Orlando International (MCO) implemented a ground stop due to an aircraft emergency, which resulted in significant delays as the situation was resolved. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) and Miami International (MIA) have faced departure delays caused by thunderstorms, with the situation continuing to worsen as the storms persist.

Several U.S. airlines have experienced considerable disruptions, particularly those operating out of the affected airports. Endeavor Air (DAL) has faced the highest number of cancellations, with 155 flights cancelled and 103 delayed. Republic Airlines also experienced significant disruption with 74 cancellations and 129 delays. SkyWest, JetBlue, and Spirit Airlines have all been similarly impacted, with JetBlue experiencing 26 cancellations and 257 delays, while Spirit Airlines has had 22 cancellations and 127 delays. Other airlines, including Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Envoy Air, and Frontier Airlines, have all experienced delays and cancellations, though to a lesser extent.

Several cities across the United States have been particularly affected by these disruptions. New York City has seen significant delays and cancellations, especially at JFK and Newark Liberty airports, which have faced delays due to deicing and low ceilings. Boston has been dealing with deicing delays at Boston Logan International, causing cascading delays for flights in and out of the Northeast. In Chicago, O’Hare International (ORD) has experienced delays, primarily due to weather and operational challenges.

Meanwhile, in Florida, Miami and Orlando airports have been dealing with departure delays caused by thunderstorms, complicating travel for those headed to or from the region. Washington D.C. has also been significantly impacted, with delays at Ronald Reagan Washington National due to deicing procedures, affecting flights departing from or arriving at the capital.

For passengers affected by these disruptions, it is essential to stay informed and take proactive steps. The first thing passengers should do is check their flight status regularly through the airline’s app, website, or customer service. This will help travelers stay up to date on the latest developments regarding their flights.

In the event of a delay, passengers should prepare for longer wait times at the airport. It’s wise to bring food, water, and entertainment to help pass the time, as delays may last longer than expected.

If your flight has been cancelled, it is recommended to contact the airline immediately to inquire about rebooking options. Many airlines are offering flexible rebooking policies during this period of disruption, so it is important to act quickly to secure a new flight.

In some cases, passengers may want to consider alternative transportation options, such as trains or buses, if they are in urgent need of reaching their destination and cannot afford further delays. Additionally, passengers should follow all safety protocols, especially with deicing procedures and ongoing weather challenges, as delays can often lead to longer boarding times.

With 3,546 delays and 422 cancellations, U.S. air travel is facing significant disruptions due to a mix of weather conditions, deicing procedures, and operational challenges. Passengers are urged to stay updated on flight statuses, check with airlines for rebooking options, and remain patient as these disruptions unfold. The situation remains fluid, and air travel may continue to be impacted throughout the day. Stay informed, and travel safely.
