Holland America Line Celebrates Over 150 Years of Dutch Heritage with the Unveiling of an Exclusive Tulip, Set to Debut in Keukenhof Gardens in 2026

Holland America Line is unveiling a special tulip variety in April 2026 to commemorate its Dutch heritage and long-standing maritime legacy. This new flower, crafted to honor the company’s origins in Rotterdam, where it was founded in 1873, will serve as a symbol of the cruise line’s enduring ties to the Netherlands and its commitment to preserving its cherished traditions.

The presentation of the first bulbs took place at the world-renowned Keukenhof Gardens, a location synonymous with Dutch horticultural excellence. Captain Jeroen Baijens, the captain of Holland America Line’s flagship Rotterdam, along with Nico Bleichrodt, the cruise line’s Vice President of International Sales and Marketing, officially handed over the tulip bulbs to Keukenhof representatives.

Developed by some of the Netherlands’ most esteemed growers, this unique tulip embodies the elegance and timeless character of Holland America Line. The bulbs will be planted this fall, with the flowers expected to bloom in time for their official debut in April 2026. A special naming ceremony will be held at Keukenhof, marking the tulip’s introduction to the world.

This exclusive tulip will be featured in select gardens and special events, offering a living tribute to Holland America’s rich heritage. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the company’s roots in the Netherlands and its dedication to creating authentic and unforgettable experiences for travelers across the globe. Through this floral tribute, Holland America Line continues to honor the traditions that have shaped its legacy while embracing the future of travel.

The unveiling of Holland America Line’s exclusive tulip reflects the cruise line’s unwavering commitment to honoring its time-honoured traditions. From the fresh flowers that greet guests on board to its perfectly sized ships and award-winning service, the tulip is the latest addition to a legacy of cultural tributes. This new floral symbol embodies Holland America Line’s dedication to continuity, authenticity, and the pride that spans generations of travelers.

Keukenhof Gardens, known as the Garden of Europe, serves as the perfect backdrop for the tulip’s debut. Located near Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Keukenhof is the largest flower garden in the world, with more than seven million flower bulbs of 1,600 varieties planted each year. Open for only two months annually, from March 21 to May 20, it attracts over 800,000 visitors globally, making it one of the most iconic floral attractions in the world.
